about

The most common question audience members usually ask when seeing The Deep Six 'live' is "are you going to record those covers you do in your live set?"

Well, here you go then!

It kicks off with (in my humble opinion) one of the greatest Monkees songs there ever was, 'Pleasant Valley Sunday'.
They powerhouse through it, but never detract too much from the original, and a huge crowd pleaser.

Now as most of the band are from the West Midlands in the UK, it comes as no surprise that a Spencer Davis Group track has sneaked in with 'High Time Baby'.
An effective and straight to the point 'Blues' based track that never fails.

John Mayall's 'Crawling Up A Hill' is particularly special due to the bands line-up change, because taking over on the drums is Mark McGounden's fellow bandmate from Makin Time and long-time friend, Neil Clitheroe.
This was a cover they did then and do now too, and Neil applies himself with enthusiasm as always.

They finish off with a tremendous version of The Small Faces 'My Minds Eye'.
Neil's return behind the kit is clearly felt as it rumbles on through the song, and finishes off with an interesting piece of orchestration as it closes.

Four finely executed tracks given plenty of justice.

The Deep Six UK Winchester, UK

From the ashes from Makin Time comes Mark McGounden's recent outing into the world of pop songwriting.

Along with Neil Clitheroe, Niall Keohane and Ade Martin they manage to produce a variety of musical styles which are clearly drawn from the 60s, yet still manage to sound contemporary and original with tremendous vocal harmonies reminiscent of bands such as The Hollies or The Byrds.
